Split complementary color scheme

This one is my favorite, it is very practical to give life and color to a space and the options are endless, using split complementary colors when you don’t want to be obvious about a color scheme or when you want to add a little more drama since this scheme is visually strong.

The split complementary or Compound Harmony color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. First, the base hue then we use the two analogous colors beside its complement. In the case of red its complement would be green therefore, the analogous are yellow-green and blue-green. Split complementary color schemes have the same strong visual contrast as the complementary color scheme, but has less pressure on the eye of the user.

In this dining room, the split complementary color scheme is very well done. The designer plays with the tints and tones just as much as the color palette. This harmony starts with red as the accent color, its complementary color is green wich means the blue-green and the yellow-green are the analogous relationships. The blue-green is used as a dominant color and the yellow-green as the secondary color. Using an analogous color scheme in this space woul have given a cooler feeling, including a color like the red makes it feel warm and inviting. I recommend using a compound harmony because it helps to create balance due to the use of warm and cool hues.

Thank you for reading, if you have any questions on how to acheive this look, I will be happy to help.
